Golf Cart Repair Pricing in Galveston
Galveston Golf Cart Repair publishes its prices. A lead-acid battery pack installed at your home runs $1,200 to $1,800, a lithium conversion $1,600 to $3,500, brake work $75 to $400, tires $75 to $150 each, a solenoid $100 to $250, lighting work $75 to $400, and the $50 to $100 service call is applied toward any repair you approve. Exact numbers depend on your cart’s brand, model year, and pack voltage, and you get a flat quote in the driveway before any work starts.
Most shops on the island make you call for a price. We would rather you see the ranges first, compare them, and book with a number already in mind.
The service call
| Price | |
|---|---|
| Service call / trip fee, anywhere in the service area | $50 to $100 |
| On-site diagnostic (load test, pack voltage, charger output, cable voltage drop, solenoid and controller checks) | Included |
| Applied toward the repair when you approve the work | Yes |
Galveston Island proper, Jamaica Beach, and Tiki Island sit at the low end of the range. Texas City, La Marque, Hitchcock, and Kemah on the mainland side sit in the middle, and the Bolivar Peninsula, which requires the ferry crossing, sits at the top. The fee exists because a technician, a truck, and a load tester show up at your house; it goes away, in effect, the moment you approve a repair.
The diagnostic it covers is the full sequence, not a glance: per-battery voltage and load test, a hydrometer check of specific gravity on flooded packs, a voltage-drop test along the main cables under load, charger output at the plug and the receptacle, and solenoid, throttle, and controller checks if the cart still will not move. You see the readings before you see a price.
Battery replacement
| Pack | Installed price |
|---|---|
| 36V lead-acid (six 6V batteries) | $1,200 to $1,600 |
| 48V lead-acid (six 8V or four 12V) | $1,400 to $1,800 with premium brands like Trojan |
| Typical full lead-acid pack, all carts | $1,200 to $1,800 |
| Lithium conversion, entry 48V 50 to 60Ah | $1,600 to $2,200 |
| Lithium conversion, 100Ah and up | $2,500 to $3,800 |
| Single battery replacement on a young pack | Quoted per battery, includes load test of the others |
Every pack price includes installation, cable and terminal inspection with anti-corrosion coating, a full watering on flooded packs, hold-down torque, a test drive, and haul-away of the old cores. Lead cores have recycling value, so there is no disposal fee and no 60-pound batteries left in your garage.
Lithium conversions include a lithium-specific charger, because a lead-acid charger profile will not properly charge a LiFePO4 pack, and a sealed lithium pack has no cells for salt air to reach. The honest math on when lithium pays for itself on a Galveston rental cart or daily driver is in salt air versus heat for a Galveston battery, and the chemistry comparison lives on the battery replacement page. The battery cost calculator assembles these rows for your cart.
Brakes and tires
| Job | Price |
|---|---|
| Brake adjustment | About $75 |
| Brake shoes and/or drums | $100 to $250 |
| Full brake overhaul (shoes, drums, cables, hardware) | $200 to $400 |
| Tire installed, standard | $75 to $150 each |
| Set of four tires installed | $300 to $600 (more for lifted or low-profile styles) |
Carts that run to the beach access points on the West End or in and out of a rental fleet’s parking lot carry sand into brake drums and bearings, and UV off open Gulf water ages sidewalls faster than shaded inland streets do. The brakes and tires page explains what wears and why.
Electrical and drive system
| Job | Price |
|---|---|
| Solenoid replacement | $100 to $250 installed |
| Speed controller replacement | $300 to $600 installed |
| Motor repair or replacement | $300 to $1,000 depending on rebuild vs replace |
| Charge port or minor charger repair | $100 to $300 |
| Full charger replacement | $300 to $800 depending on brand and output |
| Cable and terminal service (corrosion, voltage drop) | Quoted, usually well under $150 |
The last row is the one that matters most on this island. Airborne salt off the Gulf and Galveston Bay reaches battery posts, cable lugs, and charge-port pins everywhere on Galveston Island, and it oxidizes connections faster than humidity alone would inland. Corroded connections mimic a dying pack. Part of every diagnostic is a voltage-drop check along the main cables, and on Galveston carts it routinely swings a quote from four figures down to a cable job. Details on the motor and controller and charger repair pages.
Lights and street-legal equipment
| Job | Price |
|---|---|
| Lighting circuit repair (switch, fuse, wiring, one lamp) | $75 to $150 |
| Brake light or turn signal repair, including flasher and switch | $100 to $250 |
| Full light kit install (headlights, taillights, brake lights, signals, horn) | $250 to $400 plus the kit |
| Mirrors and reflectors, front and rear | Quoted, usually under $100 installed |
Galveston’s own golf cart ordinance requires headlamps, taillamps, side reflectors, a parking brake, rearview mirrors, and a slow-moving-vehicle emblem on every registered cart, and carts registered for use east of 103rd Street need turn signals, a horn, brake lights, and seat belts on top of that. Jamaica Beach requires the same slow-moving-vehicle emblem in addition to its own lights and mirrors list. What no shop can sell you is a Texas golf cart license plate itself, that comes from the county tax office, but we install and repair everything the plate depends on. The lights and street-legal equipment page and the street-legal rules page cover the rest.
Tune-up and annual service
| Cart | Price |
|---|---|
| Electric tune-up (water and load test, terminals, brakes, tires, lights, connections) | $100 to $200 |
| Gas tune-up (adds oil, plugs, filters, belt) | $150 to $300 |
| Pre-season or post-storm check | Same as tune-up |
| Rental fleet round, per cart (scheduled multi-cart visit) | Same as tune-up per cart, scheduled together |
The Gulf Coast annual pays for itself. Terminal cleaning and coating alone are the difference between a corroded cart at 2 years and a clean one at 5, in a climate where salt air does more damage than the mild temperatures ever would on their own. The tune-up service page lists everything that gets checked.
What moves a price inside its range
- Pack voltage and battery brand. A 48V pack of premium Trojan 8-volts costs more than a 36V pack of value 6-volts. That is the biggest swing in the whole price list.
- Cart type. LSVs and street-ready ICON and Evolution carts use different controllers, onboard chargers, and lithium battery-management systems than a 15-year-old Club Car DS. Parts cost more and diagnostics take longer.
- Corrosion. A cart that has sat outside on Galveston Island for a few salt-air seasons without terminal care often needs cables replaced alongside the batteries. We show you the cable before we quote it.
- Storm exposure. A cart that took any storm-surge water needs the flooded-cart inspection before anything else gets quoted, because saltwater in a battery compartment or controller changes what is worth fixing.
- Distance and the ferry. The trip fee, not the repair price, absorbs distance, including the Bolivar ferry crossing. Repair prices are the same on Crystal Beach as they are on the Seawall.
What is not on the list
Two things. We do not do factory warranty work for any manufacturer, because we are independent and not authorized by Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, ICON, or Evolution. Warranty claims belong with your selling dealer. And we do not quote a repair we would not recommend: on an old cart with a corroded frame, a failing controller, and a dead pack, especially one that has been through storm-surge water, the honest number is sometimes “put the money toward a newer cart,” and we will say that instead of writing a $2,000 ticket.
Getting an exact number
Send the brand, the model year if you know it, the battery count (six 6-volts is 36V; six 8-volts or four 12-volts is 48V), whether it is gas or electric, and what the cart is doing. A photo of the battery compartment helps more than anything. You will get a flat quote and a window, and the FAQ covers the questions that usually come up between the quote and the visit. Same-day and next-day service is routine across Galveston Island, Jamaica Beach, Tiki Island, Texas City, La Marque, Hitchcock, Kemah, and the Bolivar Peninsula.
